Equine Podiatry
Equine podiatry is the discipline dedicated to the comprehensive study and care of the horse’s foot, including its anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and associated pathologies.
Specialists in equine podiatry
The Equine Podiatry Service of the Hospital Clínico Veterinario (HCV) focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of problems related to limb conformation and the hoof in horses. We combine advanced technology, veterinary expertise and specialized farriery for a comprehensive approach to equine hoof care.
We have electronic sensors for movement analysis, digital radiography and specialized software for monitoring and comparing radiographic images, enabling accurate and objective assessment.
In addition, we work with Miguel Paricio – the only Spanish farrier who is a qualified veterinarian, is certified by the Worshipful Company of Farriers and the American Farrier Association, and has been awarded the CAPA, France’s farriery diploma – and Dr Ana Velloso, Diplomate in Surgery. Our multidisciplinary team allows to successfully manage complex hoof pathologies and to improve equine performance.
