Veterinary Oncology

The increase in life expectancy of pets and companion animals has led to a rise in cancer diagnoses. Tumours such as mast cell tumours, lymphomas, sarcomas, melanomas, and mammary neoplasms are becoming more common, and they require specialized clinical management.

At the Veterinary Oncology Service at CEU UCH’s Hospital Clínico Veterinario, we have a multidisciplinary team and the necessary resources to address each case from a coordinated and comprehensive perspective. We provide thorough diagnostic assessment and tumour staging, selecting the most appropriate treatment on this basis. The aim is always to improve patients’ quality of life and life expectancy, even in cases where a complete cure cannot be achieved.

Specialized services

We perform cytology and image-guided biopsies, and advanced techniques such as immunohistochemistry with the support of our pathology laboratory, to identify the exact type of tumour.

We determine the extent of the disease using diagnostic imaging procedures, such as radiography, ultrasound and CT scans, together with assessment of the lymph nodes, spleen, liver, and other organs, as necessary for each case.

We offer a range of therapeutic options adapted to each patient:

  • Oncological surgery

  • Conventional chemotherapy

  • Metronomic chemotherapy

  • Intralesional chemotherapy

  • Immunotherapy

  • Targeted therapies
